Completely owned · yours to run

A course platform that is entirely yours.

CourseApp is a completely owned, AI-powered course application for educators — your own instance, your data, your AI key. Run any course end to end: lectures, roster, attendance, assessment, and an AI tutor grounded in your own material. No lock-in.

No signup — jump straight in as a coordinator or student.

Completely owned

Not a subscription you rent. It is your own instance and your own database — white-label it with your course's name and colours, run it on your infrastructure, and keep full control of every record.

AI-powered

An AI tutor that answers from your course material — connected to a large-language model with your own key. Plus AI-assisted import that reads messy spreadsheets, Word, and PDF and turns them into clean data.

Built for educators

Made by a physician-educator for running real courses — syllabus, lectures and seminars, rosters and groups, attendance, assessment with a gradebook, and a truly anonymous course evaluation.

Everything in one place

One app, the whole course.

what's inside

Syllabus & lectures

Course home, syllabus, lectures and seminars — with file uploads for slides and readings.

Roster & groups

Students and staff with roles, organised into groups and subgroups. Bulk-create accounts on import.

Attendance

Mark attendance per lecture; re-saving updates. Simple, fast, and per-session.

Assessment & gradebook

Online assessments with automatic grading and a gradebook. Answer keys never reach students.

Anonymous evaluation

A structurally anonymous course evaluation — no query can link a comment to a student.

Smart import

Import roster, syllabus, timetable, and results from Excel, CSV, Word, or PDF — with an AI normalizer for messy files.

AI tutor

A course-aware tutor students chat with — grounded in your material, powered by your own LLM key.

Owner "free hand"

An owner-only manual editor to correct anything — grades, accounts, passwords — when import or AI can't.

White-label

Name it, brand it, and run any course. Nothing about a specific course is hard-coded.

Ownership

You own it — all of it.

no lock-in
Your data. Every record lives in your own database. Export it, move it, back it up — it never leaves your control.
Your AI. Bring your own model and key. The AI features run on your account; nothing is sent to a shared black box.
Your brand. White-label the name, logo, and accent colour. To your students it is simply your course.
Your infrastructure. Host it where you like — cloud or a self-updating Windows desktop build. Portable by design, no vendor lock-in.
Your final say. The owner has a "free hand" — direct manual control to fix any record when nothing else will.

Getting started, step by step.

how it works
For the coordinator / owner

Set up & run your course

  1. Create your course. On first launch the setup wizard asks you to name the course and create the owner account — the one person with full control.
  2. Brand it. Set the course name, logo, and accent colour so it looks like your own platform.
  3. Add content. Enter lectures, syllabus, and seminars by hand, or use Smart Import to pull them from Excel, Word, or PDF (the AI normalizer handles messy files).
  4. Add people. Import your roster — student accounts are created automatically — and organise them into groups and subgroups.
  5. Run it. Take attendance, build assessments with an auto-graded gradebook, and collect an anonymous course evaluation.
  6. Turn on AI. Enable AI mode and connect your own LLM key; students get a tutor grounded in your course material.
  7. Fix anything. The owner "free hand" lets you edit any grade, account, or password directly when import or AI can't.
For students

Using the platform

  1. Register. Create an account and wait for the coordinator to approve it.
  2. Find your way. Browse the syllabus, lectures, and seminars from the main navigation.
  3. Take assessments. Sit quizzes and exams online — one attempt each, graded automatically.
  4. Speak freely. Submit the course evaluation; it is structurally anonymous, so your feedback can never be traced back to you.
  5. Ask the tutor. Chat with the AI tutor — connected to your own key — to get help grounded in the actual course material.
  6. Manage your account. Update your name, email, or password any time from your account page.
